The Art Hub will be a creative community space inside the forest. Here are the 13 projects we plan to build:
A permanent open-air land art exhibition. As you walk through the forest, you'll encounter large-scale and unexpected installations created by artists from around the world. These pieces become part of the natural landscape and evolve with it.
Studios in forest pavilions and open-air spaces. Sculpt, paint, explore land art, try jewellery making, glassblowing, or create from recycled materials. Visiting artists guide participants through immersive techniques.
Temporary stages and a forest cinema under the stars. Musicians, performers, and filmmakers take part in intimate festivals, screenings, and live performances.
Artistic photo zones seamlessly integrated into the natural landscape. Waves of grass, moss-covered walls, and full-scale scenic installations create unique, photogenic environments.
A space for artist residencies open to visual artists, musicians, researchers and multidisciplinary creators. A place for silence, focus, and experimentation in dialogue with nature.
A forest-based laboratory for creating stop-motion animation. A pavilion where artists can shoot frame-by-frame films — a slow, meditative process that requires full immersion.
A space for meditation, yoga, and practices of silence. Attend a retreat, immerse yourself in vipassana, or simply spend time alone with your thoughts.
A small recording studio in the middle of the forest. Record music, capture the sounds of nature, or experiment with acoustics away from the city.
A dedicated area in the forest where you can come with your dog. Ramps, tunnels, agility equipment, washing stations, toys, dog photo exhibitions, and more.
A serene knowledge center in the woods with open stacks, reading nooks, and resources for artists, scientists, and visitors.
Scientific conferences dedicated to ecology, the future of forests, sustainable development, and the relationship between humans and nature. Lectures under canopies, round tables, and workshops.
Wayfinding art, sound markers, and micro-installations turn a walk into a story-driven experience through the forest.
Recreational spaces for everyone: ping pong tables under the trees, a sandy volleyball court, a small handmade bowling lane, and dedicated trails including wheelchair-accessible paths.
The community of supporters is the foundation of everything. Every donation — no matter how small — demonstrates that real people believe in this project. This community support makes the project viable for additional funding from banks, grants, and partners.
We don't want to grow fast — we want to grow right. Each contribution is a vote of confidence that compounds over time.
Once the starting goal of €100,000 is reached, we begin land selection. Each candidate property goes through full due diligence:
A shortlist of eligible plots (10–20 hectares) will be presented for community review. If the right land costs more than the crowdfunding total, the gap is closed with founders' contribution (~10–15%), bank financing (~40–50%), regional and EU programs (~25–30%), and community/private support (~10–15%).
Once land is secured: first the forest (planting with forestry experts, native species, fire prevention, water management), then the Art Hub.
The Art Hub is targeted for EU LIFE programme funding (LIFE-2026-SAP-ENV, New European Bauhaus stream) — approximately €600,000 from a €1,000,000 project budget as a non-repayable grant.
The world doesn't change all at once. It changes in small, quiet ways — when someone plants a tree, welcomes an artist, or gives a child a memory of nature. This is what we're building.
When we started Magic Forest, Sebastiao Salgado was still with us — alive and working. Today, he is gone, yet his forest continues to breathe and will keep breathing for decades to come.
We never met him in person. We know him through films, rare interviews, and, of course, the photographs that changed the way we see our planet.
Salgado proved to skeptics that planting a forest is possible. And he did it without being a government, a corporation, or a multi-million-dollar foundation.
He was a photographer who had traveled the world, documenting disasters, wars, and the fragile beauty of nature. But when he returned home — to the scorched land of his native region in Brazil — he realized he had both the power and the responsibility to bring it back to life.
Together with his wife, Lelia Wanick Salgado, and a small team, they founded Instituto Terra — a project to restore 17 hectares of degraded land in the state of Minas Gerais, Brazil.
Today, their forest has expanded into more than 8,000 hectares of restored Atlantic Forest ecosystem, and the institute continues to operate as a center for ecology and education.
His journey was captured in the film The Salt of the Earth (2014), directed by Wim Wenders and his son Juliano Ribeiro Salgado.
We were walking through the park just after a summer thunderstorm. The air still smelled of rain, and broken branches lay scattered like forgotten toys. And there, in the wet grass, was a tiny bird — barely alive, barely breathing.

The Magic Forest Association is an officially registered non-profit organization and a community-driven project that unites reforestation with creativity, education, science, sports, and socially significant initiatives. Our mission is to create a living, breathing legacy — a thriving forest that becomes a vibrant hub for art, culture, education, science, sports, wellbeing, community, and social impact.
By bringing creativity into nature, we create experiences that transform how people see the world and their place in it. Creativity thrives when the mind is calm and open — a state most naturally found in a forest. Art, science, education, sports, and rest take on new depth in a living landscape.
The exact location is not yet decided. We plan to search for suitable land in the Pyrenees or northern Spain, focusing on areas with a mild climate, healthy water balance, and lower fire risk. The final choice depends on the land market and availability.
